GHC welcomed Geordie Newman, President/CEO of Washington County Community Action Council, and Kim Buchanan, CIRCLES Director at Washington County Community Action Council to the GHC September Regular Monthly meeting. Geordie introduced Community Action Council's New Program, CIRCLES Washington County, MD - Building Community to End Poverty. Kim provided a detailed view into their new program and how it will function within our community. CAC has secured $1M to fund the first 3 years of this program. However, to reach its potential, it will need other kinds of support from many community stakeholders, including the business community, to develop a volunteer mentor base as well as career pathways for the families they are trying to help.
