To Our Friends, Neighbors, and Regional Stakeholders,
The story of a region is written not only in buildings and budgets—but in people, in purpose, and in bold belief in what’s possible. As the incoming Chair of the Greater Hagerstown Committee, I am both proud and humbled to serve during a time of historic momentum and immense opportunity for our region.
Though I came to Maryland from New York, Hagerstown, and Washington County have become my home. It is here that I’ve found both community and calling. I’ve witnessed the strength of partnerships, the tenacity of our entrepreneurs, the pride of our neighborhoods, and the innovation potential that pulses through our region. These are the building blocks of our future—and they deserve our collective investment.
The Greater Hagerstown Committee was founded on the belief that leadership matters and that when diverse stakeholders unite around shared priorities, lasting progress follows. Today, that belief remains at the center of all we do. Our strategic priorities—educational advancement, city center vitality, infrastructure development, and catalytic collaboration—are the foundation for sustainable growth in the years ahead.
My leadership approach is guided by five core traits: intelligence, the blend of analysis and empathy; vision, the ability to anticipate and position; bold action, even amid uncertainty; clear communication, that inspires trust and alignment; and innovation, the willingness to challenge, adapt, and lead through change.
As Chair, I am especially committed to strengthening vibrant, inclusive, and thriving city cores—particularly in downtown Hagerstown. These urban centers act as powerful hubs for the region, where rising tides lift every ship connected. When our downtowns thrive, they unlock opportunity, attract talent, and strengthen every neighboring community.
In that spirit, we celebrate both the people and enterprises rooted in our community and those we have recruited and continue to welcome. Each plays a vital role in ensuring the balanced, sustainable, and retainable growth that positions this region for long-term success.
To every resident, business owner, student, and leader: GHC’s work is for you. Your voice, your insight, and your dreams matter in this process. We invite you to connect with us, to learn, to lead, and to help us build a region where progress is purposeful and inclusive.
“We are not just preserving a legacy—we are building one. What we shape today will shape tomorrow, and the next generation is already watching.”
With respect and determination,
Tereance Moore, PMP, SHRM-CP
Chair, Greater Hagerstown Committee 2024–2025
